PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
Prerequisites for enrolling for this course:
A student is required to have a minium level of martial arts skills / knowledge (2 years).
Communicating effectively as a coach and official is vital to provide a quality learning experience for people to develop sport skills.
This includes;
•Keeping verbal instructions simple and clear
•Using language suited to the level of the participants
•Demonstrating a positive manner
•Giving immediate, specific, and constructive feedback.
•Questioning participants to ensure instructions have been understood.
This module covers the skills and knowledge required to develop and update information on officiating, including the legal and ethical issues that must be considered by officials.
This module will develop the skills and knowledge to referee or umpire in 'a dynamic' official type role. For example, a game or competition held according to relevant rules and regulations.
The officiating environment can be challenging and potentially hostile. Dealing with conflict can be tough for a confident official, let alone an inexperienced one. Good officiating relies on dealing with conflict professionally and positively.
